Kiro is an AI IDE for taking work from prototype to production. It runs long, multi-step tasks across large codebases, picking up your team's conventions through steering rules. Hooks fire in the background when you save, create, or delete a file, handling things like quality checks, code standards, and boilerplate.

With specs, Kiro plans the whole feature before writing any code. It unpacks the feature into user stories with acceptance criteria, then a design document with data flow diagrams, TypeScript interfaces, database schemas, and API endpoints, then a sequenced task list with each task tied back to a requirement. The specs stay synced with the codebase as it evolves, so the original intent doesn't drift during implementation.
